This day was entirely devoted to the medium of collage. First the artists received a very basic introduction to the color wheel and primary vs. secondary colors. Staff had prepared squares of construction paper and magazine pages, sorted into color piles. Each student was given a paper plate with the color wheel already mapped out. Their assignment was to find and match the corresponding colors.
The Rosedale students then expanded on color identification and the technique of collage with their sunset recreations. Like the watercolor lesson, artists were able to pick an image of a sunset for inspiration. They then used the pieces of paper and glue to recreate the color patterns. While the subject of the sky may have been the same for two lessons- the finished products were new and innovative.
