In this lesson, the class was shown how to create an original character using distinct features and colors. The instructors showed a drawing of basic versions of a category (cartoon man, cartoon robot) next to a famous counterpart.
The class discussed the differences between the versions and what made the famous characters recognizable. Specific features such as hair, glasses, clothing, expression and color are some of the defining visuals of these memorable characters.
Above we see Calvin from Calvin & Hobbes. Here are some of the features discussed for Calvin:
1. Always wears a red shirt with black stripes
2. Hair is always spiky
3. Eyes are only black, sometimes with white around
